0:03 Hi there in this video, we are going to be talking about title tags and meta descriptions. In the first part of this video, I will be referencing a lot of information from this wonderful article on SEO, best practices from our very own Amanda Gant.

0:16 And I will also link this article for you. So that way you can reference it later. In the second part, I will demonstrate how this information is applied in the real world.

0:25 And in the last part, I will show you how to edit title tags and meta descriptions on your own site.

0:30 So let's get started. You may be wondering what is a title tag and a meta description? Well, title tags tell search engines what the page is about and that, that, that page is relevant of it to that keyword or keyword phrase.

0:45 It's important to note that title tags should be unique for each page in search results. Search engines will highlight your keyword phrase.

0:53 If a user has searched for those terms, this increases visibility and click through rate, and some best practices for writing title tags.

1:01 You'll see here, you should have your primary keyword followed by a dash, a secondary keyword, some kind of separator, and then your brand name or your business name.

1:12 You should also avoid duplicate title tags, and you should keep the length through about 55 characters or less length, including spaces.

1:20 And here's some screenshots of what a title tag look like in a browser. So you can see that here. And then also what it looks like in a search engine result, which is this very familiar, clickable link that you'll see and moving on to meta descriptions.

1:37 So meta descriptions, are really important for getting people to click on your results on a search engine. Results pay age of you should use keywords wisely, but more importantly, they should be compelling and user, you know, will wanna click on it so much, like title tags.

1:56 You need to highlight keywords that the user is searched for, and that increases the likelihood of user clicking through your website.

2:02 So some best practices for meta descriptions, they need to be compelling and they need to be about 150 to 160 characters in length.
